Marilyn J. Fanning, age 86, of Janesville, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2014, at the home of her daughter. She was born in Chicago, IL, on July 24, 1927, the daughter of James and Eva (Stevens) Waller. She attended Janesville High School and married Donald Fanning on Aug. 27 1954, in Dubuque, IA; and he preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 1968. Marilyn had been employed by the Rock County Health Care Center, and retired in 1987.

Marilyn is survived by her two children, Donna J. (Michael) Howard and James D. (Jennifer) Fanning, both of Janesville; four grandchildren: Mike Hedegaard, Manda (Chad) Skoien, Kendra (Ruark) Allen and Mitchell Fanning; five great-grandchildren: Diten, Jennifer, Katlin, Logan and Cora; and her best friend, Betty Suchanek. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and daughter, Barbara Hedegaard.

A Time of Sharing will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2014, at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. A visitation will be held on Friday from 10 until 11:30 a.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME. Interment will be Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
