I was very disappointed when I opened The Gazette on Feb. 26 and saw the distasteful cartoon on the Opinion page of the Rev. John Hagee. Hagee is portrayed with a gas can in hand and shaking his finger at a wide-eyed lady. He is talking about his “constitutionally protected religious belief.” Next to him is a pyre with a sign that reads “Place Gay Here.”One is led to believe that if you don’t agree with Hagee’s beliefs, he would just as soon see you burn. That could not be further from the truth. One really can love the sinner and hate the sin. To find the truth, read the Bible.

There is another character in the cartoon. He is holding a bunch of sticks and laughing and tossing the word “faggot” around. He has a shirt that reads “Who Would Jesus Burn?” It is up to the reader to decide what he really is saying.

Why is it that liberals are always in the news these days portraying what they believe, while Christians are just plain “intolerant”? Ask yourself who is really intolerant and what is the real truth based on the Bible.
