TOWN OF NEWARK—An overturned semitrailer truck was responsible for closing Highway 81 west of Beloit on Friday morning.

Rock County Sheriff’s deputies and the Orfordville Fire Department responded to the accident around 7 a.m.

The 65-year-old driver was traveling west on Highway 81 west of County H when he lost control on a curve, and the truck went into the ditch and a field-access road, according to a news release.

The driver was taken to Beloit Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt. Speed is not believed to be a factor. The driver was cited for failing to maintain control of the vehicle.

The sheriff's office no longer releases the names of those involved in traffic accidents based on the county's interpretation of the federal Drive Privacy Protection Act.

The highway was closed from 9:05 a.m. to 11:51 a.m. to allow the truck to be towed away.
