Warhawk men to face Emory College

STEVENS POINT—UW-Whitewater’s men’s basketball team didn’t get caught looking ahead Friday night.

The Warhawks, behind 22 points from KJ Evans, breezed past UT-Dallas, 81-63, in an NCAA Division III Sweet 16 game.

Third-ranked Whitewater (26-4) plays Emory College (19-8), which upset top-ranked UW-Stevens Point on Friday, at 7 p.m. today.

Against UT-Dallas, Whitewater jumped out to a 14-point halftime lead and never looked back. Cody Odegaard had 18 points for the Warhawks, while Reggie Hearn added 16 and Alex Merg 10.

Whitewater finished with six 3-point baskets, including five from Odegaard.

Stevens Point, whose only loss during the season was at Whitewater, was eliminated on a Jake Davis 3-point basket for Emory with five seconds left in overtime.
