October 5, 1970 - March 9, 2014

Robert L. Crawford, 43 of Beloit, WI, was called home to fly with the angels on March 9, 2014. Robert was born Oct. 5, 1970, in Belvidere, IL, the son of Tim and Jean (Cramer) Crawford. He was a 1988 graduate of Belvidere High School. Robert married Nita Spangler on Sept. 19, 1998, in the Shopiere Congregational Church.

He stood a whopping 5'2” all heart. If you saw him on the street you might want to give him your change thinking he was homeless, unkempt, never liked cutting his hair or trimming his beard, refusing to shave it off, tattered clothes and some old ratty farm hat he found wedged in the seat of his truck. When he was 8 months old he got an e.coli infection that shut down his kidneys for a month. He bounced back as he always seemed to and when he was 13, his kidneys had deteriorated to the point that he needed a transplant. He had his second at 18, next one about 25, and the last at 38. His body was a war zone of scars from surgeries past and from the approx 15 years of dialysis off and on. He never once complained about the hand he was dealt, kept a smile on his face, and did the best he could with what he had. He loved to farm, tractor pull and spend time with his family. He loved to help his friends whenever he could. He was a loving husband, daddy, son, brother and friend.

Robert is survived by his wife, Nita; and children, Levin and Ariel; his parents, Tim and Jean Crawford of Janesville, WI; his sister, Leanne (Mark) Fetter of Loves Park, IL; his brother, Nathan (Karen) Crawford of Winthrop, MN; and his nephews, Erik and Preston Fetter and Kaleb and Braiden Crawford.

Robert's Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the RIVER OF LIFE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 402 Church Street, Clinton, with Rev. David Carlson officiating. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday at the Church from 4 until 7 p.m. and again on Thursday at the Church from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in his name. Please share a memory or a condolence with the Crawford family on our website.
