Janesville fire causes $61,000 damage

JANESVILLE—A Monday morning fire that caused $61,000 damage remains under investigation, according to a Janesville Fire Department news release.

Firefighters responded at 9:34 a.m. Monday to 2423 S. River Road for a truck fire that had spread to a nearby two-story garage. They found heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage but were able to get the fire under control within 30 minutes.

Although the fire started in the full-size truck, its cause remains under investigation.

Damage was estimated at $20,000 to the garage, $5,000 to its contents and another $36,000 to vehicles.

Firefighters from the Town of Beloit Fire Department provided mutual aid. Fire crews remained on scene for two hours.
