Two killed in single-vehicle crash near town of Beloit on Sunday
TOWN OF BELOIT — Two people are dead after a crash early Sunday morning in the town of Beloit.
Pablo Andres Villarreal, 22, of Janesville and Alex J. Nelson, 25, of Janesville were both pronounced dead at the scene, according to Rock County Chief Deputy Coroner Lou Smit.
Villarreal was driving the vehicle, Smit said.
A cause of death has not been determined and toxicology reports will be conducted Monday, Smit said.
"It was a very massive crash," Smit said. "A very tragic situation."
Town of Beloit officers responded at 3:06 a.m. as well as officers of the Beloit Police Department and Rock County Sheriff's Office to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 51 at Briar Lane in the town of Beloit, according to a written release from the town of Beloit.
Deputies found a red Jeep SUV crashed into a utility pole with two people inside who had sustained fatal injuries, according to the release. The Jeep was traveling south on Highway 51 when it left the roadway and struck the pole, according to the release.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the crash took more than four hours and thirty minutes to clear.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
