Betty Jane Nichols, age 77, of Walworth, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Monday, March 3, 2014, following a courageous battle with cancer. Her greatest love was her family. It brought her immense joy to bring together the families of her 11 brothers and sisters as well as those of her husband. Betty was born to LaVerne (Slim) and Hazel Cunningham. Betty attended Walworth Elementary School and Big Foot High School. On June 30, 1956, Betty and Ken Nichols were married and made their home in Walworth. Betty provided in home childcare for many area children for 10 years. She then worked at Miniature Precision Components (MPC) for 14 years. In 2005, she found her true passion working at Sandy's Upscale Consignment in Walworth. Betty was a long time member of Fontana Community Church and in recent years attended Immanuel United Church of Christ, Walworth, WI. Betty was an active member of the Big Foot Historical Society. She took great pride in documenting the events of her large family. She enjoyed gardening and took great pride in sharing her flowers with others.

Betty is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ken; three daughters: Julie (Abdullah) Younes of Madison, WI, Jaci (Steve) Gramstad of Redwood Falls, MN, and Jodi (Jeff) Gagnon of Seattle, WA; grandchildren: Nura and Alia Younes, and Jack Gagnon; brothers and sisters: Mary Zemblowski, LaVerne (Junie), Joan Brown, Herb, Bill, Ken (Red), Jack, Frank, David, and Linda Adkins; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Lawrence (Pie) Cunningham; and two siblings in infancy.

Please join us for a visitation with the family at TOYNTON FUNERAL HOME, 328 Kenosha St., Walworth, WI, 53184 on Friday, March 7, from 4 until 8 p.m. and again from 10 until 11 a.m. prior to the service. Funeral services will be at held 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, at TOYNTON FUNERAL HOME and Brick Church Cemetary, Walworth, with a Luncheon to follow at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 111 Fremont, Walworth.
