October 20, 1921 - February 27, 2014

Arvilla M. Bergdoll, age 92, of Janesville, died on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at Mercy Hospital. She was born in Harrisburg, PA, on Oct. 20, 1921, the daughter of the late Chester R. and Annie L. (Feeser) Lyter. Arvilla graduated from John Harris High School in Harrisburg, PA, and later married Gilbert W. Bergdoll in Penbrook, PA, on June 23, 1945. He predeceased her on Dec. 12, 2013. Arvilla was a very active member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and played piano and organ for the Sunday School programs. Along with being a very dedicated wife and mother, Arvilla was a very giving, selfless and classy lady, who was very proud of her family. A music fan at heart, she could always be heard singing or humming a tune. Due to the long hours her husband worked as a golf course superintendent during the golf season, Arvilla looked forward to their family vacations to Florida during the winter months. They made many trips to Clearwater, and Daytona, taking her children out of school, so they could be together as a family.

Arvilla is survived by her two children, Larry (Ann Spoden) Bergdoll of Janesville, and Susan Weber of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Rosin Bergdoll of Waukesha, WI, and Jon (Kim) Weber of Memphis, TN; her sister, Una Byrd of Atlanta, GA; and two great-grandsons. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, Stan Weber; two sisters; and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014, at MT. CALVARY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2940 Mineral Point Ave., Janesville, with Rev. Cory Rajek officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the CHURCH. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be greatly appreciated if they were made in Arvilla's name to Mt. Calvary Pre-School or the Salvation Army.

A very special thank you to the staff at Mercy Manor and Mercy Hospital for the wonderful care given to Arvilla. A very warm and heartfelt thank you to Pastor Cory and Sister Jan Thurner for their friendship, support and prayers during this difficult time.
