Jets win to tighten playoff race
The race for the fourth playoff spot in the NAHL North Division couldn’t be tighter.
The Janesville Jets, trailing the fourth-place Springfield Junior Blues by two points in the standings entering play Friday, beat Springfield to pull even. In Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., the Soo Eagles, who were tied with the Jets, also won, beating the Port Huron Fighting Falcons to create a three-way tie for the division’s final playoff spot.
Janesville’s Jordan Himley waited until late to open the scoring with a power-play goal at 13:54 of the third period. He followed up with another at 17:17 to insure the win.
Springfield outshot Janesville in the game 30-27, including 12-7 in the decisive third period, but Jets goaltender Logan Halladay stopped them all to get the shutout victory.
