WHITEWATER -- Lincoln: the Constitution and the Civil War, a traveling exhibition for libraries, will be presented through March 21 at the Roberta A. Fiskum Art Gallery at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, 800 W. Main St.

The exhibit looks at how the sixteenth president's leadership through the turbulent period of the Civil War helped shape the country.

Actor Fritz Klein presented his portrayal of Lincoln Feb. 19 at the exhibit in Whitewater.

Thanks to interactive and media elements, visitors to Lincoln: the Constitution and the Civil War will be able to stand next to Lincoln as he was sworn in as president, view battles of the Civil War, see Lincoln portraits through a replicated 1860s box camera, play an 1862 board game, and experience a replicated jail cell where citizens were held for dissent.

The exhibit was organized by the National Constitution Center and the American Library Association Public Programs Office. It was made possible by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
