JANESVILLE--Visitors to the Janesville Mall can now learn more about the YMCA of Northern Rock County.

The YMCA has become the title sponsor for the children's soft play area in the mall, and mall is offering information about the YMCA of Northern Rock County, 221 Dodge St. and 1360 Parkview Drive, Milton.

“It will bring awareness of the organization to the community, while promoting the Y's facilities and programs to area families,” said Tom Den Boer, CEO of the YMCA.

The partnership will cross-promote the mall and the YMCA in the community, said Julie Cubbage, Janesville Mall general manager.

“Families can bring the kids to play at the mall and learn about further activities available to them at the local YMCA,” she said in an issued statement.

Three banners hanging from the mall ceiling, two freestanding displays that highlight monthly YMCA activities plus a display rack of program information and registration forms can be found near the soft play area.

“It's a kiosk and snapshot of what goes on at our facilities,” Den Boer said.

The mall attracts the same customer demographic base as the YMCA, he said.

“The mall is open to everyone. The Y has the same philosophy,” Den Boer said.

“It's more than a shopping experience,” Den Boer said, “it's now educational and an opportunity to cross promote.”
