City of Janesville names 2013 Employees of the Year

The city of Janesville recently announced its 2013 Employees of the Year for Administration, Public Safety and Public Works.

The awards were developed to recognize employees' job performance, productivity, exceptional service and participation in civic activities.

Employees of the year include:

--Dave Lou, Public Works Employee of the Year. He has been a City of Janesville Technical Services employee for 35 years, serving the last six as facilities manager. He uses his electrical and mechanical skills to keep the city's facilities running safely and effectively.

--Officer Kevin Olin, Public Safety Employee of the Year. Olin is a 21-year veteran of the Janesville Police Department and currently is a school resource officer at Marshall Middle School, SWAT operator, rapid response instructor, SAFE instructor and child passenger safety seat instructor.

--Jill Hirsch, Administrative Employee of the Year. She has worked for the city for 22 years, ensuring that all city employees receive their checks on time and are the correct amount. She also played an instrumental role in implementing a new payroll system for the city in 2013.
