Your Views: Winzenz, Mack, Bussan serve Fourth Ward greatly
Nathan Bussan's purchase of the house at 173 S. Jackson St. in Janesville ends one of the most frustrating and time-consuming problems the Fourth Ward has dealt with. The amount of time city staff spent on this problem with no results or any intentions of enforcing code violations created a financial drain on the city and an emotional drain on citizens of the Fourth Ward.
Jay Winzenz replaced Gale Price with Kelly Mack on May 23, 2013, as lead city staff person to fix the problem. Thanks to Winzenz for making this decision! This resulted in the house being sold. Mack encouraged owner Margaret Zweifel to view Bussan's work on lost houses. Zweifel chose to save her home by taking $10,000 less than offered by another buyer. A special thanks goes to Zweifel for doing this.
Mack, of Neighborhood Services, who had previously made a major positive impact on the Fourth Ward, fixed the problem in a short time. She had one meeting with the Fourth Ward Committee and put an end to the 39 meetings and over three years of inaction by the city.
We have all heard of Frank Lloyd Wright homes. The Fourth Ward now has “Bussan homes,” which are huge Victorian houses that have been saved from the chopping block and will be here for generations to come.
It doesn't get any better than this!
