Police arrest Janesville man they say threatened to arm himself with firearm

JANESVILLE — Frederick J. Guist, 31, was arrested Friday morning after Janesville police blocked traffic from a home where Guist was threatening to arm himself with a firearm, according to a Janesville Police news release.

Police responded to a disturbance at the home, 2414 Ruger Avenue, at 7:38 a.m.

Officers blocked traffic from the area, evacuated other residents from the home, and spoke with Guist who went into a room where firearms are kept, according to the release.

Guist was taken into custody and is accused of battery and disorderly conduct, according to the release.

No injuries were reported and traffic was allowed through at 8:09 a.m.

Guist was released Saturday from the Rock County Jail on bond.

Guist was not charged in this incident after entering into a diversion agreement with the Rock County District Attorney’s Office.
