Arlene E. Schwengels, age 93, of Clinton, WI, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at Beloit Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 20, 1920, to Arnold and Esther (Keehn) Krebs in Beloit. She attended Clinton High School, class of 1937, and was a life long Clinton resident. Arlene married Walter Schwengels Feb. 26, 1943, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 2003. Arlene was a lifelong member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church and was very active in most Church activities as well as the local homemaker club and gardeners club. Arlene was a superb homemaker and took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as her vegetable and flower gardens. She worked with Walter as a dairy farmer and at the Peterson Drug Store in Clinton, for over 20 years. Arlene enjoyed watching Packer and Brewer games and all the Clinton area offered.

Arlene is survived by a daughter, Yvonne (Douglas) Murray of Tomah, WI; two sons, Gerald (Karen) Schwengels of Fond du Lac, WI, and Robert (Carol) Schwengels of Janesville, WI; four grandsons: Joe (Marcia) Schwengels, Mark (Kari) Schwengels, Jason Schwengels and Marty (Amy) Schwengels; seven great-grandchildren: David, Luke, Sam, Noah, Allen, Jack and Maddie; her sister-in-law, Jean Krebs; a special nephew, Curt Krebs; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her parents; and her three brothers: LaVerne, Wesley and LeRoy.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Azura Memory Care for the care and compassion they gave Arlene for the past six years.

Arlene’s Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at CHRIST EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 300 High Street, Clinton, with Rev. Gary E. Schockman officiating. Friends may greet the family on Saturday at the CHURCH from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Following the service, the cortege will proceed to Clinton Cemetery for interment.
