SLC girls hoops: Badger wins on road

Maria Mieres-Rey scored a dozen points to lead the Lake Geneva Badger girls basketball team to victory on Tuesday night.

The Badgers led by just two points at halftime but pulled away for a 42-28 Southern Lakes Conference victory over host Burlington.

Badger, which received one vote in the state Division 1 girls poll this week, improved to 15-3 overall and 8-1 in the league, just a half-game behind Wilmot.

Burlington got 14 points from Ellen Stang but fell to 3-7 in the SLC.

•  Union Grove 48, Elkhorn 23—The Elks were held to single-digit scoring in all four quarters of an SLC road loss.

Elkhorn got 11 points from Erin Schahczinski but fell to 3-7 in league play.

Alex Goodrich led the Broncos with 13.
