JANESVILLE— Janesville School Board member and Deputy State Treasurer Scott Feldt has been endorsed for the office of state treasurer by 44 county treasurers in Wisconsin, according to a press release issued Tuesday.

Feldt, a Republican, is running for the office in the November election against three Madison Democrats--Dan Bohrod, Brandon White and David Leeper, according to online records of the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board.

Feldt said 11 of the endorsing county treasurers are Democrats and 33 are Republicans.

“Scott has the experience necessary to be a great State Treasurer,” Waukesha County Treasurer Pam Reeves, said. “Scott's priorities--accountability, transparency, and opportunity--are Wisconsin's priorities.”

Feldt previously ran for the office in 2010 and was narrowly defeated by current Treasurer Kurt Schuller, who is not seeking re-election.

The endorsements come as the state Assembly plans a vote on whether to eliminate the State Treasurer's Office, a vote that Feldt believes is more about Madison politics than good government, he said the release.
