Montrell Preslley fell three assists short of a triple-double (24 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists) and former Elkhorn player Kyle Hoskins had his third straight double-double (20 points, 12 rebounds) to lead the UW-Rock County Rattlers to a 110-67 win over UW-Marshfield in the final Wisconsin Collegiate Conference regular season game of the season.

“We came out with energy and purpose,” Rattler head coach Scott Lee said.

The Rattlers made 10 of their 12 3-point baskets in the first half in building a 62-33 lead at halftime. The Rattlers recorded an assist on 27 of their 42 made field goals in the game.

Rock County put the game sufficiently out of reach shortly after halftime and eventually emptied the bench.

“Almost everbody contributed one way or another,” Lee said.

The Rattlers have a nonconference game against Madison Edgewood’s JV team Wednesday and after that will host a WCC tournament game Feb. 19 at 7 p.m.

n Lack of energy dooms Rattler women—Playing without Julia Dement and Emily Harnack in its last regular-season game, the UW-Rock County women’s basketball team went down 20-5 early and couldn’t claw back, losing to UW-Marshfield 82-67 on Saturday.

“We didn’t play with the defensive energy we needed to,” Rattlers head coach Scott Lee said. The Rattlers also struggled from the field, making just 21 of 77 shots.

Rock County adjusted after halftime and got within three points late in the game, but the Maurauders used a 10-0 run to stretch the margin back out.

“That took the wind out of our sails,” Lee said.
