Warhawk women pull away in second half

UW-Whitewater’s women’s basketball team pulled away in the second half Saturday to remain unbeaten in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Amy Mandrell had 25 points and the Warhawks used a 10-0 run early in the second half en route to a 86-73 win over UW-Superior.

Whitewater (19-3, 13-0) also got 17 points from Kaitlyn Thill, 13 from Katie Burton and 12 from Abbie Reeves.

The Warhawks outscored the Yellowjackets 23-7 at the free-throw line.

Whitewater can clinch at least a share of the WIAC regular-season title with a win Wednesday at UW-La Crosse.
