Highway 12 north of Elkhorn is open after an accident Wednesday morning

ELKHORN — Highway 12 north of Elkhorn near Evergreen Parkway was closed for a portion of the day Wednesday. 

A vehicle ran into a utility pole, causing the pole to fall across the road at 8:45 a.m. Highway 12 was immediately closed to westbound and eastbound traffic.

Wires from the pole were on the highway. We Energies was contacted and headed to the scene, according to the release.

The accident was cleared at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

The highway was open at 1 p.m. for all vehicles, except semitrailer trucks, according to a sheriff's office news release.

As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, semitrailers were still advised to take alternative routes.

Residences and businesses near the crash were at risk of losing power, according to the release.

No injuries were reported in the crash.
