Craig, Parker wrestling teams pick up victories

Janesville Craig’s wrestling team flattened Whitewater on Tuesday night.

The Cougars got pins from six wrestlers en route to a 51-15 nonconference win over the Whippets.

“Whitewater’s not a bad team at all and have beaten some pretty good teams this season,” Craig coach Mark Mullen said. “So for us to come in here and get a convincing win is good to see.”

Craig got pins from Stone Klingaman, Deon Newson, Grant Pleiss, Anthony Skrede, Zach Mulrooney and Brock Bennett.

The Cougars conclude the Big Eight Conference dual season tonight at Madison West.

•  Parker 51, Madison East 28—The Vikings wrapped up the Big Eight Conference dual-meet season with a convincing win over the Purgolders.

Parker (3-6) got pins from Alex Miller at 182 and Tyler Thornton at 145, while Gage Burdick won by decision at 138.

“The guys wrestled hard tonight and laid the foundation for having a good tournament on Saturday,” Parker coach Danny Jackson said. “We hope to conclude the Big Eight conference tournament with as many individual champions as possible.”

The Vikings compete in the conference tournament Saturday at Verona.
