DeLou "Red" Blodgett, Elkhorn, WI (1927-2014)

DeLou “Red” Blodgett, 86, of West Street, Elkhorn, WI, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI. He was born Feb. 25, 1927, in Bear Creek, WI, the son of the late Lloyd Wm. and Mabel C. (Longly) Blodgett. He attended College High in Whitewater, WI. Red served in the US Army as Corporal from 1945 to 1947. He was united in marriage to three wives: Minnie Hanney, Sigrid Andersen and Velma Conrad. He was a companion to Gertrude “Trudy” Amann and Madlyn Anderson. Red sold Paul Revere Life Insurance for many years. He was a bartender and bar manager for several places in the Lake Geneva area, over the years, starting with Lakelawn, Claire Lounge, Gargoyle, Morrey’s Supper Club, Danielle’s Supper Club, Twiggy’s and for 28 years with Anthony’s Supper Club. He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lake Geneva, WI, and Frank Kresen American Legion Post #24 of Lake Geneva. He enjoyed gardening and watching the birds.
Red is survived by his four children: Lisa (Jesse Larson) Blodgett of Pell Lake, WI, Penny Rae Blodgett of Elkhorn, WI, Debra (Jim) Peterson of Hartland, WI, and Tammy (Paul) Knowles of Brookfield, WI; four grandchildren: Michelle M. Weinstock, Michael, Laura and Anna Knowles; three great-grandchildren: Audriana Ellison, Khiara Rhone and Jaylah Knight; two sisters, Marcelaine ”Marcie” (Elmer) McCulloch of Whitewater, WI, and Katherine Wurtz of Janesville, WI. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Clarabelle and Evelyn; six brothers: David, Edwin, George, Sanford, Wayne and Raymond.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at the FIRST EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1101 Logan Street, Lake Geneva, WI, with Rev. Peter Metzger officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in the Town of Delavan, WI. Visitation will be at the CHURCH on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
