TOWN OF LA GRANGE--Multiple fire departments from Rock and Walworth counties are fighting a large fire at an egg farm east of Whitewater, Walworth County Dispatch confirmed.

Fire departments including Janesville, Edgerton, Clinton, Milton and Whitewater were being called out with tank trucks to deal with the fire, which broke out around 7:30 p.m. Friday at S&R Egg Farm, 9416 N. Tamarack Road in La Grange, officials said.

The farm is a large complex about 10 miles east of Whitewater.

Deputy Chief Pete Mory From the Milton Fire Department, who was helping to cover the fire station Lauderdale-La Grange Fire Department during the blaze Friday, said fire fighters had called in more than a dozen water tank trucks and more were in route in a "defensive measure" to fight the fire.

Mory said the fire apparently started and spread in an agricultural building. He said he was not sure whether the building or buildings on fire house livestock. It was not immediately clear if anyone was inside.

A dispatcher said the Walworth County Sheriff's Office was on scene at the fire. No further details were immediately available.
