Two Janesville students expelled for marijuana possession

JANESVILLE —The Janesville School Board expelled two high school students Wednesday for possessing marijuana on school grounds.

One student is accused of possessing and delivering marijuana on school grounds. The other is accused of possessing marijuana on school grounds.

The student accused of possessing and delivering marijuana is expelled for the remainder of this school year, the entire 2014-15 school year and 2015 summer school.

The student accused of possessing marijuana is expelled for the remainder of this school year and the first semester of the 2014-2015 school year.

Both students can apply for early reinstatement if they meet conditions required by the district.

To qualify for early reinstatement, they both must:

-- Enroll and participate in counseling.

-- Submit to searches at the request of district personnel.

-- Waive confidentiality of juvenile probation so information can be shared with the district.

-- Have no more criminal activity.

-- Take prescribed medication.

-- Regularly attend classes with absences and tardies monitored.

-- Maintain satisfactory behavior and levels assignment completion, class participation and grades.

This brings to 11 the number of students expelled this school year, compared with three at this time last year.
