As a Realtor in our community, I understand the importance of property values, community benefits and affordable housing for families, the elderly and young adults. Too often, high property taxes can be a hurdle in achieving the American Dream.

That is why I applaud Gov. Scott Walker for proposing a property tax cut of more than $400 million that will impact every property owner in Wisconsin. His proposal will put real money in the pockets of hardworking Wisconsin taxpayers who created the tax surplus in the first place.

As proposed, the tax cut would lower property taxes on the average Wisconsin home by $100. Unlike several years ago where the trend was for property taxes to increase, this is the second time Gov. Walker has proposed a plan to reduce our property tax burden.

In addition to the savings on your property taxes, the tax cut will stimulate local spending, help create economic activity and help stabilize real estate values. This is great news for Wisconsin property owners!
