Group wants public input on proposed park near Edgerton
TOWN OF ALBION—A newly formed parks committee is seeking public input for a plan to bring a 300-acre agriculture education and recreation park to the Edgerton area.
The Friends of Silverwood Park are holding an informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Albion Town Hall, 624 Albion Road, Edgerton, for Silverwood Park, a proposed park off Highway 106 in the town of Albion.
The meeting will include background information on the park from the Friends of Silverwood Park Board and the Dane County Parks Department. Both groups are involved in the planning of the park.
According to a news release, talks Thursday will include history of the park, and details on how land for the park came available through a private donation. The presentation also will include details on needs for the park, which include a master plan.
The park is planned for agricultural education and learning projects for the public, students and job trainees. About 100 acres of the park are earmarked for recreational, “non-agricultural” use.
Organizers are welcoming public input as part of the meeting.
Anyone with questions or requests to tour the proposed park area can reach the Friends of Silverwood Park at 608-289-9627 or via email at email@example.com or silverwoodpark.org.
