TOWN OF BELOIT—Beloit Turner school officials are encouraging parents to talk to their students about safety and awareness when walking to or from a middle/high school bus stop on Burton Street after suspicious activity Friday morning.

“Recent reports have indicated an adult male has been lurking close to a bus stop on Burton Street,” the district posted on its Facebook page Friday afternoon. “We believe the individual has made verbal contact with students and has possibly followed a student to the pick-up area.”

Authorities don't have much of a description other than the subject is male, Town of Beloit Police Chief Steve Kopp said.

The district said it is working with the police departments in the city and town. Any suspicious activity should be reported to police and school officials, the district said.
