Milton stuns state-ranked Oregon

The Milton High girls basketball team pulled off one of the biggest upsets in area high school basketball this season on Thursday night.

The Red Hawks overcame a four-point deficit entering the fourth quarter and pulled away from visiting Oregon to collect a 49-41 victory in Badger South Conference action.

Milton (1-5 Badger, 2-11 overall) outscored the visitors 18-6 in the final quarter behind seven points by Anna Gunderson and four points from Sydney Harms. It was the first conference loss for Oregon, which is ranked No. 8 in Division 2 in the latest AP poll.

Harms finished with 19 points and Gunderson had 13. Harms made all eight of her free throws, while Gunderson hit 7 of 10, including 7 of 8 in the fourth quarter.

Maddie Gits had 15 for Oregon (5-1, 11-3).

•  Edgewood 51, Monroe 39—Senior guard Sam Foti scored 22 points to lead Edgewood to a home victory over the Cheesemakers, who got 14 points from senior guard Kirsten Vetterli.
