Walter Stoklosa, age 96, of Rockford, and formerly of Janesville, died on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at St. Anthony’s Hospital, in Rockford, IL. He was born in Chicago, on Oct. 21, 1917, the son of Frank and Anna (Szafraniec) Stoklosa. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and married Genevieve Peck on Sept. 27, 1947, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Walter had been employed by Kroger’s Food, IGA, and Piggly Wiggly. After his retirement, he worked for the Janesville Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, the VFW Club, the Moose Club and was very active in St. Patrick's parish activities including being a lector for many years.

Walter is survived by his wife, Genevieve Stoklosa of Rockford; two children, Michael (Karen) Stoklosa of Janesville, and Mary (Richard) Mowris of Rockford; five grandchildren: Peter (Jamie Lee) Mowris, Anna (Thomas) Murphy, Vanessa Mowris, Michelle (Jason) Cuyler and Kathryn Stoklosa; two great-grandchildren: Caden and Cole Cuyler. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edward.

A Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at ST. PATRICK’S CATHOLIC CHURCH with Rev. James Kuhn officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday from 9:30 until 11 a.m. at the CHURCH. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery at a later date.
