Whitewater women win sixth straight

The winning ways continued Wednesday night for UW-Whitewater's women's basketball team.

The Warhawks opened up a 30-point lead in the second half and coasted to an 84-75 WIAC win over UW-La Crosse.

Whitewater improved to 14-3 overall and remained in sole possession of first place in the WIAC with an 8-0 record.

Mary Merg led four Warhawks win double figures with 14 points.

East Troy High graduate Rachel Atchison had a game-high 20 points for La Crosse.

Whitewater, which has won six striaght, hosts UW-Rivers Falls at 3 p.m. Saturday.
