Winning streak ends at nine for Whitewater men

A nine-game winning streak came to a screeching halt Wednesday night for UW-Whitewater's men's basketball team.

UW-La Crosse lit up the Warhawks with 15 3-point baskets en route to an 88-83 WIAC win.

Calahan Skogman and Trent Schmidt combined for 42 points, while Lake Geneva Badger graduate Braden Tice had four of the Eagles' 15 3-pointers.

Beloit Memorial graduate K.J. Evans led four Warhawks in double figures with 19 points. Quardell Young added 18 for Whitewater (14-3, 5-3), which trailed 43-37 at half.

Whitewater plays at UW-River Falls on Saturday night.
