Jessie Margaret Fagan, Naples, FL (1920-2014)
March 29, 1920 - January 16, 2014
Jessie Margaret Voss Fagan, passed away Jan. 16, 2014, in Naples, FL, which had been her second home for over 40 years. She loved the sunshine and warm weather as well as the family farm in Prairie du Chien, WI, where she was born to Jesse Voss and Esther Margaret Sunney Voss on March 29, 1920. Jesse, her father, predeceased Jessie, his baby girl by 2 weeks with pneumonia. She became his namesake and continued to thrive in her extended family of mother, two uncles and her grandparents. Also living in this small farming community was Jack Fagan, who was to become her lifelong love and husband of 75 years. Their anniversary was celebrated this past Nov. 5, 2013.
Raising a family of six children, supporting her ambitious husband and volunteering in any capacity that requested her organizing skills and loyal commitment filled most of Jessie's time in Delavan, WI, until well into the 1970's. With a nearly empty nest she was able to finally enjoy the world travel and golf that she loved, and sharing her heart and inexhaustible energy with family in both Wisconsin and Florida. Jessie and Jack enjoyed their Florida homes in Park Shore, and Grey Oaks, before settling at Arbor Trace in Naples, in 2006. Jessie enjoyed continued independence until moving to Arbor Glen, Assisted Living Facility in December of 2012.
Jessie was preceded in death by an infant son, James-1944; and an adult son, Tom in 2011. She is survived by Jack, her husband of 75 years; five children: Pat (Carol) of The Villages, FL. Mike (Marilyn) of Janesville, WI; Mary Jo (Bill) Anderson of Naples, FL, Kelli (David) Westbrook of Little Rock, AR and Jim (Signe) Fagan of Janesville, WI. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Jessie was the most selfless, thoughtful and giving wife, mother, grand and great-grandmother imaginable. She will be in our hearts forever and will always be missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at 11 o'clock a.m. at St. Leo the GREAT CATHOLIC CHURCH in Bonita Springs, FL.
