At the start of the new year, we should reflect back on the great legacy that President Obama has already established.

-- Passed health care reform: After five presidents failed to create universal health insurance, signed the Affordable Care Act.

-- Jobs: During the last 46 months, 8.2 million private-sector jobs have been added.

-- Passed the stimulus: Signed $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to spur economic growth amid greatest recession since the Great Depression.

-- Passed Wall Street reform.

-- Ended the war in Iraq.

-- Eliminated Osama bin laden.

-- Turned around U.S. auto industry.

-- Repealed “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”

-- Toppled Moammar Gaddafi.

-- Kicked banks out of Federal Student Loan Program, expanded Pell Grant spending: Treasury will save $67 billion over 10 years, $36 billion of which will go to expanding Pell grants to lower-income students.

-- Boosted fuel efficiency standards: New fuel efficiency standards will nearly double the fuel economy for cars and trucks by 2025.

-- Increased support for veterans.

-- Tightened sanctions on Iran.

-- Passed credit card reforms.

-- Passed Lilly Ledbetter Pay Equality Law.

-- Protected two liberal seats on the U.S. Supreme Court.

-- Improved food safety system.

-- Expanded wilderness and watershed protection.

-- Improved school nutrition.

-- Expanded hate crimes protections.

-- Pushed broadband coverage.

-- Expanded stem cell research.

Very impressive accomplishments when the obstructionist “do nothing” GOP House and filibustering GOP senators have been against anything President Obama has proposed.
