JANESVILLE—The Janesville Bluebirds are on a roll.

Janesville’s high school boys co-op hockey team won its third straight game Saturday thanks to a 14-2 nonconference thrashing of McFarland at the Janesville Ice Arena.

The Bluebirds got a hat trick from both Connor Perkins and Tyler Perkins in improving to 8-8-1 on the season.

McFarland scored first, but Janesville took the lead for good at 2-1 on Connor Perkins’ first goal at 9:12 of the opening period. The Bluebirds led 8-1 after two before piling on six more goals in the third, including Tyler Perkins’ hat trick.

“We had a week where we should’ve had success and we did,” Janesville coach John Mauermann said. “And it’s nice to see some the younger guys starting to contribute.

“Right now, it’s a matter of just trying to get better each and every time out.”

Janesville plays at Big Eight leader Verona on Thursday night.
