George Raymond Frederick Galbrecht, 83, of Edgerton, passed away early on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at St. Mary Hospital, Madison. George was born on May 17, 1930, in Sharon, WI, to the late Arthur William and Leah Belle (Carlson) Galbrecht. He entered the Army right out of High School. On Jan. 20, 1951, George married Phyllis Nordness in Edgerton, WI. He worked for 42 years as a repairman for General Motors, retiring in 1992. He was always very active in Central Lutheran Church, performing in the choir and playing in the Dartball league. He was a member of the VFW and Lions Club for many years, the Blue Notes, and Music Pioneers. He was a great flower gardener, loved to play softball, bowl and exercise. He was a bird lover and loved to build bird houses. You could always find George wherever Phyllis was. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

George is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Galbrecht of Edgerton, WI; three children: Pamela (Terry) Schachtschneider of Edgerton, Brian (Carol) Galbrecht of La Puerta, CA, Cheryl (Brent) Hart of Big Bend, WI; five grandchildren: Rebecca (Dan) Chapman, Jessica (Joe) Reilly, Michael Schachtschneider, Tara Korta, Briana (Vincent) Sapienza; three great-grandchildren: Jacob Kienbaum, Caleb Korta, Constance Korta; one brother: Leonard (Donna) Galbrecht: two sisters: Ivadene Austin and Beverly Schumaker; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Norman Galbrecht; and his special lady and mother-in-law, Myrtle Nordness.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at CENTRAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, Edgerton, with Pastor Jim Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Jensen Cemetery with military rites performed by the Edgerton Honor Guard. Visitation will be held on Friday at the ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES, EDGERTON, from 4 until 7 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until the start of the service at the CHURCH on Saturday.
