Helen M. Hoke, 89, of Elkhorn, WI, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Lakeland Health Care Center, Elkhorn, WI. She was born Nov. 25, 1924, in Titusville, PA, the daughter of Dennis and Cecil (Harvey) Turner. Helen graduated from the Nursing School at the City Hospital of Cleveland, OH. Helen was married to Ruel E. Hoke on April 28, 1946, in Cleveland, OH, until his death in 1998. In addition to City Hospital, Helen worked as a Registered Nurse at Saint Terese and Victory Memorial Hospitals in Waukegan, IL, the VA Hospital in North Chicago, IL, and the VA Hospital in Indianapolis, IN, from where she retired in 1987. Helen was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Elkhorn, AARP and XYZ. She volunteered in many community services, including Habitat for Humanity, was an avid reader, enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, oil painting and playing cards.

Helen is survived by her three children: Linda (John) Hoke-Stuart of Elkhorn, WI, Carol (Rickey) McShane-Street of Elkhorn, WI, and Robert (Catherine) Hoke of Schaumburg, IL; ten grandchildren: William Jason Uimari, Allison (David) Furniss, Valerie (John) Giannopoulos, Sean (Kelly) McShane, Kevin (Megan) McShane, Ryan (Stephanie) McShane, Carrie Street, Ryan Street, Rebecca Hoke and Sara Hoke; 10 great-grandchildren: Arianna and Elena Giannopoulos, Sophia Furniss, Colleen, Mark, Finn, Colin, Roan and Carlo McShane, Ryleigh Street; one sister, Lois Ellington of Orlando, FL; and two brothers, Harvey (Dorothy) Turner of McKean, PA, and Dennis (Chris) Turner of Dewey, AZ. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Ruel; and two brothers, Clifford and William Turner.

Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at HAASE-LOCKWOOD & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 730 N. Wisconsin Street, Elkhorn, WI, with Rev. Laura McLeod officiating. Visitation will be at the FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday from 12 Noon until the time of service. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Lake Geneva, WI.
