ZENDA—An accident involving a school bus and a pickup truck at the intersection of County Highway B and Zenda Road in Zenda Friday remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.

The accident occurred about 12:30 p.m. Jan. 10 when a school bus traveling north on Zenda Road failed to yield the right of way to a white pickup truck traveling westbound on County Highway B.

Sgt. James Bushey of the Town of Linn Police Department said initial questioning of the school bus driver, Douglas E. Billings of Elkhorn, and the truck driver, Scott S. Aubin of Lake Geneva, indicated that Billings may not have seen Aubin's white truck because of patchy fog that day.

Although responders found no signs of serious injury among the 17 students from Reek Elementary School in Linn aboard the bus, seven children were transported by ambulance to Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn as a precaution. The other children were taken back to school.

Billings and Aubin were also taken to the hospital, but both were released later that day. Bushey said neither driver was seriously injured.

No charges will be issued until the investigation is completed, Bushey said.

Both the Walworth County Sheriff's Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol's inspectors and reconstruction unit aided the Linn Police Department at the scene of the accident.
