JANESVILLE—Janesville School Board member and deputy state treasurer Scott Feldt announced Monday that he is again running for the office of state treasurer in November.

Feldt, a Republican, previously ran for the office in 2010 and was narrowly defeated by current Treasurer Kurt Schuller, who is not seeking re-election.

“The people of Wisconsin need a state treasurer who will be an independent financial watchdog, ensuring accountability in taxing and spending,” Feldt's news release reads. “As state treasurer, my priorities will be maintaining accountability, increasing transparency, and safeguarding opportunity.”

Feldt worked in the state treasurer's office under both Schuller and former treasurer Jack Voight, who served from 1995 to 2007.

He has served on the Janesville School Board since April 2011 and has announced that he will not be seeking re-election to that position when his term ends in April.

The UW-Madison grad also announced Monday that his campaign treasurer will be Waukesha County Treasurer Pam Reeves.

Two Madison Democrats, Dan Bohrod and Brandon White, have declared themselves candidates for the office, too, according to online records of the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board.
