The Janesville Bluebirds started quickly Saturday against the Beloit Memorial Purple Knights, outshooting Beloit 12-4 and scoring two goals within the first eight minutes of play, to break a five-game losing streak with a 6-0 decision over their Big Eight rivals.

Janesville (6-8-1, 4-3-1 Big Eight) hadn’t won since a 14-0 drubbing of the Madison La Follette/Madison East co-op team on Dec. 19.

Connor Perkins, Janesville’s leading scorer, was first to light the lamp at the 5:24 mark off an assist from Sam Iverson. Tyler Perkins followed shortly thereafter with an unassisted power-play goal at 7:54. Connor Perkins and Tyler Perkins each tallied another goal and added an assist.

Michael MacDougall stopped 15 shots in the Bluebird win. Janesville next hosts Brookfield/Catholic Memorial at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
