Marion Ruth Schulz, age 91, a longtime Janesville resident, passed away Saturday evening, Jan. 4, 2014, at Cedar Crest Retirement Center. She was born Nov. 22, 1922, in Sheboygan, WI, the only child of the late John and Emma (Krepsky) Hacker. After graduating from Sheboygan High School, Class of 1941, Marion worked for the Wisconsin Telephone Company. On June 8, 1946, she married Paul E. Schulz at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. After a brief residence in New York, the couple later settled in Janesville in 1948. Marion was an exceptionally devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. As a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, she sang in the church choir and served on the Altar Guild. As her sons grew up she supported them in their ventures as an active Scouting "Den Mother", and also as a Janesville Little League booster. She, later, worked as a secretary for American Family Insurance Co. for many years until her retirement in 1983. She was also a member of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary. Marion made friends easily and kept them for life. She loved nothing more than to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, and traveling.

Marion is survived by her husband, Paul; her three sons, Rev. Michael P. (Kathleen) Schulz of Oxford, MI, Paul J. "Skip" (Mary) Schulz and Peter K. (Candace) Schulz, both of Janesville; her eight beloved grandchildren: Jonathan (Ingrid) Schulz, Kristen (Robert) Russell, Emily Schoen, Elizabeth (Joseph) Davies, Rebecca (Garrett) Alabado, Kari (Jonah) Klebba, Thomas (Amy) Schulz, and Hannah Schulz; her 10 great-grandchildren: Emma and Andrew Schulz, Joseph, Jacob, and Elena Russell, Gracie, Aidan, and Addison Schoen, Maren Davies, and Gemma Alabado; her two brothers-in-law, Karl (Mary) Schulz and Richard (Marilyn) Schulz; nieces; nephews; and by many beloved friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at CEDAR CREST CHAPEL, 1700 S. River Rd., with Rev. Daniel Decker officiating. Burial will take place on Saturday at the Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan, WI.
