MECAS's Pape to take principal post at Clinton High School

MILTON—School Principal Phil Pape intends to leave the Milton School District to take the over as Clinton High School's new principal, school district officials confirmed.

On Tuesday, the Clinton School Board was planning to vote on hiring Pape, who is principal at MECAS, the Milton School District's Alternative High School, and associate principal at Milton High School.

Milton schools Superintendent Tim Schigur confirmed that Pape intends to resign to take the helm at Clinton High School. Schigur said the Milton School Board was not slated to discuss Pape's resignation and a request for release from employment at the district until next week.

Clinton School Board president Rob McConnell said Tuesday afternoon that he expected the hire to go through. He said Nichole Erickson, who has served as both Clinton High School Principal and Director of Teaching, Learning and Assessment since July, will remain as Director of Teaching, Learning and Assessment.

Meanwhile, Schigur said Milton schools has posted the MECAS principal position, and has already received about two-dozen applications for the job.

He said the an existing school district administrator will likely be appointed in the interim to handle duties as MECAS principal while the district works to hire a new principal.
