Phyllis Ann Schlitzer died suddenly Saturday morning, Jan. 4, 2014, at the age of 73. She now rejoices in heaven with her parents, Fern and Vonley Hanvelt and the love of her life, John, with whom she would have celebrated their 54th Anniversary on Jan. 2, this year. Phyllis's life here was filled with kindness and great love for her family and friends. No matter the bumps in daily existence, there was never a time you couldn't count on Mom. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas and her family was grateful for many birthdays, shopping trips, dinners and holidays shared with Mom.

Phyllis is survived by her three children: Vicky (David) Miller, Rick (Dawn) Schlitzer and Brenda (Jeff) Bergum. Phyllis adored her grandchildren: Meagan (Chad) Suiter, Jessica Miller, Adrianna and Amber Schlitzer, Bobbi Jo Bergum; and her great-grandbaby, Briella. She is also survived by her two sisters, Ilene (Marvin) Kettler and Debra (Marvin) Alcorn; and a brother, Loren Hanvelt.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at the WARD-HURTLEY FUNERAL HOME, Evansville, with Reverend Jon Grice of Roxbury Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Evansville. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the FUNERAL HOME.
