Shorthanded UW-Rock falls to Beloit
With a shorthanded roster following the semester change, the UW-Rock County men’s basketball team couldn’t keep up with Division III Beloit College’s JV team Monday night, falling 85-73.
Down to 10 players from 17, the Rattlers (9-7, 4-1) also lost 6-foot-7 Kyle Hoskins to illness during the game. Mike Moss helped keep Rock County in the game in the second half, scoring 20 of his game-high 28 in the game’s final 20 minutes.
In the absence of Hoskins, an Elkhorn High graduate, Beloit’s Jacob Manthe scored 12 points in the paint. Wes Wagner made four 3-pointers for the Buccaneers and finished with 24 points.
The Rattler women play a Division III JV team tomorrow when they travel to play UW-Whitewater at 7 p.m. Both teams return to conference play Monday against UW-Waukesha in Janesville. The women’s game tips at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow at 7:30.
