Marilyn M. Goelzer, age 40, passed away unexpectedly of her chronic health conditions on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013. She was born on Dec. 6, 1973, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Wesley and Judy (Olson) Bingenheimer. After graduating from Wild Rose High School in 1992, she received her B.A. from the University of South Florida and her master's degree from Cardinal Stritch. Marilyn was a member of the AOPi Sorority. As a young girl, she excelled in Girl Scouts, having earned the Gold Award. On July 1, 2006, Marilyn married Eric Goelzer, She worked as a special education teacher in Milwaukee Hamilton Middle School in Madison, and currently at Parker High School in Janesville. Marilyn had a very special bond with her students. She loved spending warm days outside with her family, dogs and doing jigsaw puzzles. Marilyn enjoyed all the simple pleasures life has to offer.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Eric; her parents, Wesley and Judy Bingenheimer; step-sons, John and Matthew Goelzer; mother-in-law, Karen Goelzer-McKaig; her brother-in-law, Curt (Felicia) Goelzer; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dave Bingenheimer; maternal step-grandfather, Jack Funk; aunt, Jolene (Olson) Eckl; and cousin, Daniel Olson.

Memorial Services were held at Gunderson East Funeral Home, Madison. Memorials may be made to the family for an education fund to be established for John, Marilyn's step-son, who is attending the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
