Schools closed Monday
JANESVILLE—The Janesville public schools will be closed Monday because of the expected extremely cold weather.
Other districts announcing closings on Monday include Beloit, Big Foot area, Clinton, Edgerton, Evansville, Milton, Whitewater, Elkhorn and Delavan-Darien.
Most private/religious schools in Janesville also have announced closings for Monday.
Blackhawk Technical College announced Sunday night that all its campuses would be closed Monday.
The National Weather Service is forecasting a low temperature of minus 22 on Sunday night in Rock and Walworth counties and a high temperature of minus 14 on Monday, warming up to minus 2 on Tuesday.
With wind chills, the potential for frostbite is high, and authorities are urging caution.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill warning from 6 p.m. Sunday to noon Tuesday. A wind chill warning means the combination of frigid air and strong winds will create dangerously low wind chills, resulting in frostbite on exposed skin.
"Hypothermia or death are possible if precautions are not taken," the weather service says.
