November 16, 1930 - December 31, 2013

Donald E. Folts, age 83 died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013 at Beloit Memorial Hospital. Don was born Nov. 16, 1930, to the late Donald H. and Opal (Moody) Folts in Beloit. He graduated from Beloit High School, class of 1949 and studied at Beloit College for two years. As a young man, Don played football at Beloit High School as well as at Beloit College. Don enlisted into the U.S. Army on Oct. 15, 1952, and served his Country until his honorable discharge on Aug. 20, 1954. He married Marilyn Timmcke on April 23, 1955, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Don worked as a manager for Norwood Mills for 33 years until his retirement in 1988. He was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, served on the church council for several terms and as president for one term. He also served on the usher and communion teams and was a founder of the O.W.L.S Group. Don loved to camp and fish with his family near Tomahawk, WI; he enjoyed traveling with Marilyn to several World's Fairs, as well as many trips to Las Vegas, and Disney World. He also enjoyed golfing and was an avid DIYer, (he was a jack of all trades and a true master of many). Don also was a walker and was still walking on a regular basis until shortly before he died. He will be greatly missed by all.

Donald is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn; his four sons: Dean (Laura) Folts of Beloit, Perry (Cindy) Folts of Beloit, Brice (Sue) Folts of Jefferson, and Loren (Liz) Folts of Beloit; five grandchildren: Jerel, Zared, Brock, Andy (Molly) and Lance Mueller; two great-grandchildren, Hailie Jean and Brennan; his brother, Maynard Folts; special neighbors, Jessica Burrow and Theresa Bartram; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to thank Beloit Memorial Hospital and Beloit Regional Hospice for the care they gave Don.
