Richard Eugene (Angelo) Golz passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at Collinwood Elderly Care with his son, Steve, by his side. He was born on Sept. 4, 1929, the son of George and Amanda (Utzig) Golz, Sr. Richard was united in marriage to Janice Ruth Post, Janice preceded him in death on Oct. 1, 1993. Richard retired from General Motors after 32 years. He loved spending the summers at his trailer in Spring Green, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and people watching, he enjoyed Lake Leota Park, watching the ducks and geese, and spending time with his family. Family was everything to him.

Richard is survived by his son, Steve of Brodhead; his granddaughter, Amber (Jeremiah Plear); and his great-grandson, Carter Kleisch of Evansville, who was born on his birthday; his great-step-granddaughter, Brooklyn Plear; his grandson, Derrick (Heidi Derhammer) of Janesville; his niece, Sharon Powers; brother-in-law, Harold Kopplin; his good friend, Dave Weber of Brodhead; his neighbor, Jeremy who was always there when dad needed a helping hand; Jim Turner; and his special friend, Tess Gibbs; his brother, George (Dottie) Golz of Brooklyn. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Bob, Bertly, John, Walter, and Edwin Powers; his sisters: Hilva Deremer, Dorothy Blum, Alice Williams; sisters-in-law, Mary Hesgard, Cleo Kopplin and Neva "Pee Wee" Davis.

Richard's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Collinwood Elderly Care. Richard will be greatly missed by his family and friends, We love you dad and grampa.

Per Richard's wishes, there will be no services. A private service will be held at a later date. WARD-HURTLEY FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family.
