ELKHORN — Walworth County Coroner John Griebel, who died Dec. 20 at the Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn at age 79, was remembered for his professionalism—in both work and attire.

Walworth County Judge Phil Koss, the former district attorney, recalled Griebel always looking sharply dressed, including coat, tie and dress pants, no matter the time of day or the weather.

Koss said Griebel never got rattled or panicked by the cases he handled—investigating more than 18,000 deaths, according to Janesville Gazette archives.
