Pleasy "Peg" Berg, 98, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013. She was born in Delavan, WI, on Aug. 30, 1915, the daughter of Herbert and Agnes Gibbs. She married Ronald M. Berg in Beloit, WI, on Sept. 22, 1945, at the West Side Presbyterian Church. For thirty years she owned and operated the East Side Bar and Steak House in Evansville.

Peg is survived by her children, Jean (Ronald) Petterson and Roger (Brenda) Berg, both of Evansville; granddaughter, Stephanie (Jay) Thomsen; and great-granddaughter, Finley Thomsen of Madison; sisters-in-law, Janet Sumpter and Norma Berg, both of Beloit; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1961; grandson, Michael Berg in 2005; parents; in-laws; three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at WARD-HURTLEY FUNERAL HOME, Evansville, with Reverend Kyung-Sook Lee and Pastor Jerry Dean officiating. Friends may call on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Evansville. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made in Peg’s name to the Evansville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall Remodeling Project.
